ALLEGATIONS OF RESEARCH MISCONDUCT

EJI (English Journal of Indragiri): Studies in Education, Literature, and Linguistic takes allegations of research misconduct seriously and follows the guidelines and flowcharts of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Research misconduct includes, but is not limited to: plagiarism (including self-plagiarism), fabrication and falsification of data, duplicate or redundant publication, undisclosed simultaneous submission, authorship manipulation, citation manipulation, and inappropriate image or data manipulation.

How to report

Allegations may be submitted by anyone (readers, reviewers, authors, or editors) by email to ejipbifkipunisi@gmail.com. Reports should include the title of the article concerned and as much evidence as possible. Anonymous reports are considered if sufficient evidence is provided. Reporters’ identities are kept confidential.

Procedure

§  The Editor-in-Chief acknowledges the report within 14 working days and conducts an initial assessment.

§  If the allegation appears credible, the editorial board gathers evidence, and the author(s) are invited to respond in writing within 14 days.

§  The Editor-in-Chief and the editorial board decide on the outcome. Where necessary, the matter is referred to the author’s institution or funder, or to an independent expert panel.

§  A manuscript under review found to involve misconduct is rejected. For a published article, the journal issues a correction, an expression of concern, or a retraction.

Possible sanctions

Depending on the severity, sanctions may include a written warning, rejection of the manuscript, retraction of the published article, notification of the author’s institution, and a ban on future submissions to the journal for a period determined by the editorial board.

All submitted manuscripts are screened for similarity using Turnitin / iThenticate / Plagiarism Checker X. The similarity threshold accepted by the journal is at most 25%.
